Sami Päivike
The Body of Unique Lapland concept
Sami has been working in tourist industry and in one of the biggest safari operators in Lapland starting from 1997, being part (as development director) of creating the “Monster Tourism”. Then he realized that this is not what he wants to do, because he believes in real emotions, real customer service and real safaris. This is how Unique Lapland was born and this what we all are aiming for.

Petrol-head, Petrosexual, the metrosexual petrol-head – these are the few nick names we sometimes tease him for the endless love in everything that moves; SNOWMOBILES, MOTORCYCLES, QUAD BIKES… Don’t let the perfumer cloud and the smooth outlook disturb your attention – despite everything, this is a rough guy who’s real place is in wilderness and he sure knows how to survive there. Sami is like Indiana Jones, he just knows all about it. Did you know he has Karl Fazer Blue chocolate in his pocket every time he is running a safari? Because you never know when you might need it out there!

Annekreet Heinloo
The Right Brain and the Right Hand
Annekreet has been working in tourism for past 7 years, handling product development for the biggest travel agency in Baltic States. Yes, we are multinational as you discover when you keep reading about the others. She is originally from Estonia. How come someone NOT from Lapland can know anything about Lapland?
Well, actually this is an advantage, because she knows a lot more about what people like about Lapland than the locals do. And how come a lady would know anything about snowmobiles and adrenaline and all that stuff?! Guys, you probably haven’t met her…

Her alter ego character definitely is Superwoman – probably she often wakes up early in the morning, maybe a bit tired and wondering where did all the bruises come from… Either she saved the world again or then the other option is that all that came from canyoning, rafting, snowmobiling, husky sledding, motorcycling, etc. She just did again – you know, normal things that people do for their work. Annekreet really seems to love what she is doing. That makes her so good and people around her so excited.

Ville Väisänen
Safari Operations in Rovaniemi
Why are our safaris so popular among the women? It’s because we have Ville. The guy just has the sparkle in his eyes when he tells you in his fluent English how to drive a snowmobile. But guys, don’t get offended because of this comment! He really is a fantastic guide and a funny person, so you will definitely enjoy his charm, too.
Beside guiding Ville is taking care of operating the rest of the team in Rovaniemi. In daily life he is studying hospitality services and is aiming to get the Masters Degree. His biggest passion and true love is river rafting and he is working as a rafting guide during the summers. To make it more international – Ville has been living in US for 10 years and he also has the citizenship!

Ville really is a kind and funny personality. When he starts feeling comfortable with the people he immediately becomes an entertainer. Telling jokes, making fun of everybody and also asking people to make fun of him. But at the same time he is never crossing the line and always senses the limit, so people just love him for that.
Marika Hynynen
The Engine of Unique Lapland Helsinki Winter World
The whole indoor ice and snow world, husky dogs, several hundreds of outfits, variation of multi-talented guides and of course all those thousands of quests visiting us, this woman is in charge of all that operational stuff. So, if you’ll see a long blond hair flashing in the speed of light or a big warm friendly smile welcoming you – that is her… She will make it happen!

She once told me a story about her very old family name. “Hynynen” is literally coming from Huns. You know the fearless tribe and Hunnic Empire? The woman really is like fearless Hun or let’s say a Viking, leading the huge ship of the Winter-world. Respect!

If Sami is all about engines, you better keep Valentijn or Vallu as we call him, away from technique. He is simply not into it.
Instead, Vallu has a very special relationship with animals and especially husky dogs. Vallu and his wife Veronika have a small family run, dog friendly husky kennel dedicated to providing unique sleddog experience in Finnish Carelia, Lapland and Helsinki.
They organise longer husky tours for individuals, families and groups who require a high level of customer care and personalized service. You are always invited to share their hospitality and enjoy Veronikas delicious home cooking!

Vallu has had a very interesting life, he’s been living in Holland, Africa, I think also in Russia? And of course in Finland. Ask him about it when you meet him and he will tell you absolutely amazing stories. Or then, ask about the dogs! The guy is a legend! And customers love him! Oh, and by he way. Vallu is Dutch.

That is true – Marko is a guide in fourth generation – it is in his blood! This dude shares the deep snow fun, white water rafting and fishing excursions with a wide smile and high knowledge. Marko and Sami have a mutual goal – to teach the guests enjoy the true wilderness experience, even if you haven’t done anything before. You will learn! And enjoy!
